baby carrier

You may have heard many moms talking about the benefits of using a baby carrier to hold your baby. A baby carrier is the harness or pouch made of soft fabric you may have seen women and even dads wearing. If you don’t know much about this phenomenon, that’s ok. In fact, it’s relatively new to the western world. For many years, women from other countries like Africa and Asia have fashioned their own form of baby carriers as a way to keep their infants close while still being able to do the tasks they need to do like household chores, caring for other children, working in gardens and more. In the United States, this wasn’t always necessary in the past because many women did not work and stayed home with their children after their birth.

Now, however, the times have changed and more and more women have jobs, hobbies and schedules that they don’t want to fully abandon when they have a child nor should they have to. Among the many ways that a baby wrap is beneficial to a parent and their possible productivity, a Solly Baby wrap can also be extremely beneficial for the child.

First, a baby wrap is made of snug, warm, soft, comfortable cloth. This cloth wraps around the mother and simultaneously swaddles the baby. The baby gets body heat from the mother while also feeling like they are in a warm cocoon, reminiscent of their time in the womb. This has an instant calming effect on children because it reminds them of when they felt safest.

Second, when a baby wrap is wrapped correctly, the baby’s head will be positioned on the mother’s chest. This means that the baby will be able to hear the mother’s voice, breathing and heart beat, similar to how it was heard in the womb. This provides additional calming measures for the child and increases the bonding feeling between mother and child.

Also, because of the positioning near the face, the child will be around speech, language, facial expressions and human sound much more regularly, meaning their language development and brain function may increase quite a bit. When a baby is around other people often, they will usually learn to speak and express themselves faster than babies who are not. In addition, babies who develop human connections earlier on in their lives usually have an easier time of doing so throughout their lives.

Finally, babies in baby wraps will likely develop more strength in their head and neck because they are more stimulated by their environment as they get older. Many babies, before they can roll over, spend a lot of time lying on their backs, which can flatten the back of the skull and also make it more difficult for the baby to gain head and neck strength. A baby wrap prevents this and also gives the child the opportunity to increase their physical movement.

Baby wraps are a wonderful way to care for not only a child, but for the parents as well. It increases bonding, cognitive function and emotional response, all of which are beneficial to a baby’s growth and development.

Studies show that between the years 2008 and 2012, there were nearly 50 accidents in factories across the United States that could have been prevented if the factories had only chosen to take appropriate cleaning measures. These cleaning measures include hydroblasting, which is a way of cleaning heavy equipment and machinery with the use of high water pressure and precise hoses and nozzles. The practice of hydroblasting quickly and efficiently cleans dust, buildup and grime. In the cases of some of the factory accidents, it was a buildup of combustible dust that caused injuries, but with just a simple pass through by an industrial cleaning company, these accidents could have been avoided.

Due to reports like this, the industrial cleaning and hydroblasting services industry is growing exponentially, meaning there are tons of job opportunities available to those interested in a career in industrial cleaning.

Many who work in the field say that they enjoy working with top of the line, powerful and industry-leading equipment. In order to tackle any cleaning project that comes their way, companies must be prepared with cutting edge technology that not only gets the job done, but gets it done quickly and safely.

On the topic of safety, many who work in this field have experienced a job in which they need to remove toxic or harmful waste or chemicals. For jobs like these, vacuum truck services are necessary because they provide a safe and effective way to clean any kind of accidental spill or buildup like sewage or sludge. Some may think that workers in this industry would be extremely scared or nervous to go on calls that involve toxic or hazardous materials or waste, but the truth is, industrial cleaning services prioritize safety above all else. In fact, many who work in the industry have said that they are never worried about these types of jobs because they know how advanced their equipment is and truly trust the safety precautions taken. They also believe they and their coworkers are trained extensively and that everyone knows what to do during these types of dangerous jobs.

Job security in this industry is also high because there is no shortage of mass production factories, plants and large-scale operations. When one combines all the existing chemical plants, production facilities and more with the sheer growth of these facilities needed to sustain a growing human population, it is easy to see why there are so many and will continue to be so many jobs in this field. Particularly in rural areas, workers in the industrial cleaning industry say they feel a lot of job security because of how many large scale factories are found in their region.

Many workers also said they felt a lot of opportunity for advancement, particularly for the workers who made it a point to learn how to operate all the various equipment. Workers who make themselves invaluable on all different types of job calls are more likely to be promoted into leadership positions such as project managers.

shuttersA shutter is a common window covering that provides a beautiful aesthetic and a good sense of privacy in your home. Home additions like shutters can immediately make a room feel complete, if you add interior shutters or provide additional curb appeal if you install exterior shutters. Shutters are great because they do a good job at blocking light when needed, but also can easily make a room seem bright as well. In fact, shutters can provide customizable lighting simply because they can be set at different angles to allow for different amounts of light to get in. There are dozens of types of shutters, but a few are extremely popular and considered attractive in the United States. The list below will tell you a little bit more about them.

California- By far the most popular style of shutter in the United States, California style shutters are distinct because of their wide louvers. Louvers are the slats that make up a shutter. California shutters are interior shutters that are most commonly made out of wood, though you can get them in different materials as well. California shutters are common in warm states like California (for which they are named), Arizona and Nevada.  If you have a room with a lot of sun exposure, these are good shutters to consider.

Cafe Style- Cafe style shutters are common, unsurprisingly, in European cafes. Many cafes want to have natural light, but at certain times of the day, direct sunlight can stream in and get in a diner’s eyes, making the dining experience unpleasant. A cafe style shutter covers only the bottom half of a window so that it can shield diners from the sun in their eyes, but still allow sunlight to come in through the top portion of the window, giving excellent lighting and aesthetic for the cafe. Of course, these types of interior shutters go well in a kitchen or dining room where you may run into a similar problem.

Plantation- Plantation shutters are the shutters you envision when you think of big southern mansions. These exterior shutters are helpful against sun and inclement weather as they can be shut to protect windows during windy and raining southern storms. These types of shutters are most popular in southern states like Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida and Georgia, but they can be installed anywhere in the country.Their classy look also pairs well with a fancy sitting room or sunroom.

Raised Panel- Raised panel shutters are exterior shutters that look a little like the panels of a door. They are decorative more than functional and serve mostly as a way to frame a window. You’ll often see this type of shutter painted in deep colors like forest green, navy or chocolate brown and flanking a window box.

All the shutters above are lovely, but difficult to install. It is best to seek out a professional like those at Viking Blinds to give you an estimate and be able to answer any additional questions you may have about which shutters will look best for your home.

porcelain venners

Do you have chipped or crooked teeth? Whether your dental issues are natural or brought on by an injury or accident, porcelain veneers might be the right option for you.

What is a veneer?
Veneers are customized caps that a cosmetic dentist will bond to your teeth. These caps are designed to look, feel and be treated just like your natural teeth. They can alter the size, shape, alignment, length and color of your teeth to give you your best smile.

Why would someone get veneers?
Many people choose veneers as a way to gain confidence in their smile for a variety of reasons. Common concerns include chipped teeth, crooked teeth, gaps between teeth, inconsistent tooth sizing, discoloration of teeth, damaged or worn teeth and more.

How much do veneers cost?
Though there are a few different types of veneers, the porcelain variety generally ranges from between $1,000-3,000. You will need to discuss types and costs with your cosmetic dentist for a more accurate figure.

How long do they last?
Again, there are numerous types of veneers, but porcelain veneers can last more than a decade, or even longer with proper care. Many feel that though the initial investment is steep, the years of reduced dental work and increased confidence is worth it.

How long does the procedure take?
Veneers actually take a few weeks to complete simply because there are a few different necessary appointments. Patients will undergo a consultation, molds and fitting and the final application process. The application can range in time based on how many teeth are receiving a veneer.

Can you whiten veneers?
No, not with classic whitening products such as strips or whitening toothpaste. A pro of veneers is that they will retain their shade for long periods of time. Some patients who are only getting veneers on a few teeth, will go through a whitening process before getting veneers so that the veneers can be matched to teeth at their whitest.

Can I replace my veneers?
Yes. If a veneer chips or debonds (the glue holding it on comes undone), a cosmetic dentist will most likely be able to repair or replace it. Cosmetic veneers can be replaced multiple times using the same method as the first procedure.

Will veneers affect my natural teeth?
Not really. If a veneer happens to fall off or debond, your tooth underneath may feel a bit more sensitive from lack of use or exposure, but for the most part, your teeth underneath should remain normal.

Is bonding a better option?
While bonding is a cheaper option, particularly for small adjustments and changes in tooth size or length, it is made of a less-durable dental plastic material. This material is more susceptible to staining and breaking. Bonding can be a quick fix for minor issues but may not be the best choice for large-scale problems or insecurities.

While deciding whether to get veneers, consider consulting a cosmetic dentist who can provide answers to your questions as well as recommendations for your specific concerns.

Eyes are an important part of the body. Without them, we couldn’t read, see color, drive, watch movies, and more. It’s beneficial to prioritize the health of your eyes just like you would any part of your body. If you see other doctors for other parts of your body, like a dermatologist for your skin, a dentist for your teeth and a general practitioner for overall wellness, you should also make sure you are seeing an optician to ensure your overall optical health as well.

In today’s society, we spend so much time looking at screens. Computer screens, laptop screens, phone screens, tablet screens and television screens. Our eyes are constantly fatigued and strained from the harsh lighting, making it more likely that we will cause damage and degeneration to our eyes. When you have an eye exam, you can keep tabs on how your eyes are changing over time, which will allow you to pinpoint when you may need to take corrective action.

While eye exams are a good way to monitor your eyes, there are also other ways to take care of your eyes between appointments.

  1. Limit your screen time- As mentioned, eye strain is common in people of all ages these days because of the sheer amount of time we spend in front of a screen. Studies show that just two hours in front of a screen can cause eye strain and the majority of us spend more time in front of a screen than that. Do your best to limit your screen time. While you may not be able to do so at work, at least try to take small breaks. Get outside for a few minutes or take a brief break to stretch and close your eyes.
  2. Nix the bedroom television- Many people have televisions in their bedroom and while this is great for entertainment, it’s bad for sleep. Not only does the harsh screen lighting in contrast to a dark room strain your eyes, but it causes you to stay up later. When you sleep less, your eyes don’t get as much time to rest, meaning they will be tired and strained even as you wake up the next morning.
  3. Eat your carrots- This old adage actually proves true. The beta-carotene in carrots is a type of vitamin A and vitamin A is an essential nutrient that contributes to good vision. Try drinking carrot juice, adding carrots to salads, snacking on carrot sticks, or roasting some up with dinner to pump up the good effect.
  4. Massage- Whether you look up some tactics to do it yourself or you go to a specialist, pressure and light massage on the neck, scalp, brow bone and temples can help with strained eyes and pressure build up. Strained eyes can often lead to headaches and this type of massage can provide relief.
  5. Consider prescription eyeglasses- If you find that you are having frequent headaches, tired eyes and blurry vision even after trying the above tips, consider looking into prescription eyeglasses. Sometimes people don’t think they need vision correction because they can see fine, but sometimes just a little bit of correction can make a big difference.
