This is one of the biggest reasons why people who do go to the dentist every six months are less likely to develop cavities and periodontal disease than those who do not, and they are way less likely to allow those conditions to reach a critical level.
This, of course, brings us to another reason why appointments at your local dental office can make such a big difference. When you go to the dentist regularly, you are able to identify any ailments you may be suffering from. This is good because it enables you to change your habits and to treat the symptoms, before they have a chance to become exacerbated by time. Cavities are one example of how this principle works. First of all, when a cavity goes untreated for long enough, the center of the tooth begins to rot away. If it reaches the root of the tooth, it will result in tooth loss, which is a serious issue, particularly in the case of adult teeth. On the other hand, if you go to the dentist frequently, any cavities that you may develop will be dealt with quickly enough that you will not have to worry about losing the tooth.
